iA Writer Pro’s Workflow

iA Writer Pro introduces a simple workflow, built around how you work:

Note – Write – Edit – Read

These Workflow states keep you focused on the task at hand, and each has a task-specific font and color.

Start by structuring your thoughts and ideas in Note, move to Write to flesh them out, progress to Edit for refining, then once you’re finished move to Read (documents in the Read state are read-only, and don’t show formatting characters).

For more complex texts, begin with your Notes, then make a new document and change to Write to begin your first draft. Change between Write and Edit to focus on your current task. Make additional Note documents as necessary.

To change a document’s Workflow state, use the Workflow menu, or the Workflow section of the Sidebar. Doing so moves the document into the appropriate folder, and this is synced with all connected devices via iCloud and Dropbox. New documents are created in the Write state, and any documents migrated from iA Writer are in Write.

Note that at present Workflow states can not be changed in iA Writer Pro for iPad and iPhone.
